This floor model is a replica of the US M26 recovery vehicle. One of the main factors that enabled the Allies to advance despite these power differences was the rapid recovery and repair of battle-damaged tanks.
This is where the M26 tank recovery vehicles and their brave crews came into play. The M26 was first used on the Italian front in 1943 and later used extensively for the Allied advance inland after the Normandy invasion. In all weathers, in the middle of the night or under enemy fire, the repair crews constantly performed their duty of recovering and repairing damaged tanks.
