The German model train manufacturer Bemo was founded in 1976 in Uhingen, Baden-Württemberg, by Harald Göbel. The founder had previously worked for the model train manufacturer Röwa and was therefore able to bring a lot of experience from model making with him. As a result, the first model from Bemo was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in the same year. With the Bemo diesel locomotive V51 or V52, a piece of Württemberg branch line history was presented in the narrow gauge size H0e and in the meter gauge H0m.
A steam locomotive and corresponding cars completed the assortment and allowed a reproduction of the historical development on the home layout. Over the years, numerous Bemo model railroads based on Swiss, Württemberg and Saxon models followed, as well as a few model railroads from other countries.
Bemo offers the models of the Swiss Railway, the German Railway and the German Reichsbahn mainly in the gauges H0e and H0m. In addition to scale accuracy, Bemo attaches particular importance to printing on the model railroads that corresponds exactly to the prototypes in terms of coats of arms, operating numbers and other details.
