Prototype:
The class 111 has been on the road throughout Germany since the mid-1970s.
In the course of the past decades, its area of operation ranged from long-distance passenger service to its use as a commuter train in the Rhine-Ruhr area to its current main activity in local and regional service. Similar to its tasks, the appearance of the four-axle electric locomotive also changed over time.
Since the end of the 1990s, it has predominantly been painted in the traffic red livery that is also used on the model. The faithful reproduction in 1:87 scale convinces with the attached handle bars, the filigree windshield wipers and pantographs as well as the interior of the locomotive with many lovingly designed details. The fine paint scheme in combination with the detailed graffiti give this locomotive its special charm and make it a real eye-catcher.
For even more closeness to the original, the BR 111 is available in both DC and AC versions with characteristic sound. The locomotive also has digitally switchable train destination indicators, lighting in the cab and engine room, and a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel. The sound versions are factory-equipped with decoders, and the AC version also has mfx capability.
