New for 2020/2021: With the newly designed PIKO 1044/1144, there will also be authentic models with the high serial numbers of this series in 1:87 for the first time. The characterful locomotive face of the former ÖBB parade horse was excellently met in the model implementation, as was the striking side section of the vehicles, which with the pronounced beads and the typical portholes posed challenges to the mold construction.
The resulting impression of an ideal visual effect is continued in the locomotive´s bogies. Last but not least, the new 1044 is technically convincing: A five-pole PIKO motor with two finely balanced centrifugal masses on its shaft ensures even propulsion. Model railroaders who prefer digital operation benefit from the modern PluX22 interface - it allows a digital decoder to be installed in a few simple steps.
The light change that is obligatory today was implemented using contemporary LED technology. However, the lighting of the driver´s cab and driver´s desk, which is also available in the PIKO model and can be switched in digital mode, is not a matter of course.
