1/35 scale kit, Russian JS3 Stalin heavy tank.
Chief designer M. F. Balschi created a new gun turret with stronger armour and a round, bullet-repellent dome shape. This remained the distinguishing feature of Soviet tanks until the mid-1990s with the T-80 and its descendants. The IS-3 also stood out due to its unusual hull shape. The upper half of the front armour consisted of two armour plates welded together at an angle instead of one plate extending across the entire hull width as on most other tanks of its time.
