On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Austria´s accession to the EU, the European Commission and ÖBB put a locomotive in the EU design on track. The EU locomotive has been traveling all over Austria and neighboring countries since July 3, 2020, sending a strong signal for the Green Deal, which should make Europe a climate-neutral continent by 2050 at the latest. The ÖBB´s Taurus locomotives have an hourly output of 6,400 kW and can reach speeds of up to 230 km / h.
