The history of Märklin begins in 1859: In that year, Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin founds a small company in Göppingen that specializes in the production of tin toys.
At the end of the 19th century, Märklin significantly advanced the standardization of model railroad layouts, especially through Märklin's H0 gauge used. The standardization of track sizes initiated by Märklin is still valid worldwide today.
